Davis Maine Scholarship

A collaboration between the Maine Seacoast Mission and the Shelby Cullom Davis Charitable Fund, this scholarship program offers full, renewable, four-year scholarships at Davis Maine partner colleges for first-generation students from eastern Hancock and Washington counties.

The Davis Maine Scholarship is modeled after the highly successful Davis New Mexico Scholarship and was created to ensure that more first-generation college students from our rural areas have the opportunity to complete undergraduate degrees, untethered by financial burden.

Key partners in this extraordinary effort are the Shelby Cullom Davis Charitable Fund and three partner colleges: Clark University, University of New England, and Wheaton College. The first group of Davis Maine Scholars entered college in the fall of 2022. Davis Maine Scholars have come from partner schools Narraguagus Jr/Sr High School and Sumner Memorial High School and from participating Washinton County Bowdoin Upward Bound schools.
