Davis Maine Scholarship
A full, renewable, four-year scholarship at a Davis Maine Partner college for first-generation college bound students.
What it is:
A full, renewable, four-year scholarship at a Davis Maine Partner college for first-generation college bound students. Our Maine Partner Colleges are: University of New England, Clark University (MA) and Wheaton College (MA). Our program is modeled, in part, on the Davis New Mexico Scholarship Program.(www.davisnm.org)
Who it serves:
- Rising juniors (starting with Class of 2022) from Sumner and Narraguagus High Schools
- Students who will be the first members of their immediate families to graduate from a four-year college
- Students who have participated in CEECoast Program
- Highly motivated students with a minimum required 3.0 GPA who complete application, interview and family information session
- Students who wish to attend a private four-year college away from home
- As a start, cohort of 6 students selected each year
Program elements:
- Strategic 1:1 support, guidance, expectations and monitoring on behalf of each Scholar from their selection as juniors through their college graduation.
- Annual Davis Maine Scholarship Summer Retreat and monthly college workshops that provide college preparation and transition tools, resources and opportunities.
- College trips
- Family Engagement: consistent, ongoing communication, education and information to ensure that families understand the process and their key role in their Scholar’s planning and eventual college transition away from home.

- Local college campus (for annual retreat)
- Sumner and Narraguagus High Schools
- EdGE Center in Cherryfield
When it begins:
First Davis Scholar cohort to be selected Winter, 2020. (‘22 Juniors)
