The coast of Maine is rocky, rugged, beautiful, and challenging. Winters are stormy, cold, and long.

Since its founding in 1905, the Maine Seacoast Mission has served the islands along the eastern coast and the coastal communities of Hancock and Washington counties.

Our central administrative offices are located at the Colket Center in Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island. Home port for the Sunbeam is Northeast Harbor. The Sunbeam serves the unbridged islands with year-round communities east of Rockland, including Matinicus, Monhegan, Isle au Haut, Frenchboro (Long Island), and Swans Island. The Downeast campus, home of our education, housing, family, and food programs, is in Cherryfield, a small town in Washington County, the easternmost county of the United States.

The map markers show places in Washington County and on the unbridged islands the Maine Seacoast Mission serves.
