#GivingTuesday – Thanks for Helping the Mission

#GivingTuesday – Thanks for Helping the Mission

BAR HARBOR, ME — May 5 is #GivingTuesday. While we know there is no shortage of good works deserving of your #GivingTuesday support, we respectfully ask you to consider making a gift to the Maine Seacoast Mission. Your gift will help us help the incredible Maine kids, families, and seniors we work with in Downeast coastal communities and on Maine unbridged islands. We play a key and unique role in supporting and strengthening these communities – for well over a century and now in this time of incredible disruption.

If you’re not familiar with the Mission’s work, please see for yourself.

And thank you for your help on #GivingTuesday. Click here.

It’s Thank You Thursday – for Jenny and Hugh Lawson of Intervale Farm

It’s Thank You Thursday – for Jenny and Hugh Lawson of Intervale Farm

CHERRYFIELD, ME — It’s Thank you Thursday! Today’s shout-out of Mission Love goes to Hugh and Jenny Lassen, owners of Intervale Farm, an organic blueberry farm in Cherryfield. When the Mission had an opportunity to accept a large delivery of meat for our food pantry, we had a challenge: not enough storage! Hugh and Jenny stepped up and offered us the use of their freezers over the next few months.

It is inspiring to see so many members of the community pitching in to support neighbors. Together, we are finding new ways to increase food security.

This is what community looks like.

Welcome Wyman’s to Thank You Thursday

Welcome Wyman’s to Thank You Thursday

BAR HARBOR, ME — Maine Seacoast Mission is grateful for the support of so many — including companies, volunteers, and community partners. Today’s shout-out of Mission Love goes to Wyman’s.

Wyman’s is helping us help neighbors through funding for heating assistance, for food, and by providing vital supplies such as cleaning products.

We agree fully with Wyman’s leadership who told us, “Together we are all going to get through this, as we always do.”

This is what Community looks like.

CHERRYFIELD, ME — Just because we haven’t posted news of our Downeast Table of Plenty (DETOP) Sunday dinners in awhile doesn’t mean we don’t love them anymore. To the contrary, DETOP dinners are thriving in the new Weald Bethel Community Center at the Mission Cherryfield Campus.

People from every segment of the community attend, and music, conversation, and laughter preside. Two-year olds sit next to ninety-year olds. Hunger and loneliness are nowhere in sight.

DETOP happens every Sunday, 3:30 to 5:00 pm. Meals are provided by volunteers who offer in advance to prepare and serve that Sunday’s food and drink. If you or your group are interested in hosting a DETOP meal please send an email Wendy Harrington. Thank you.
