Weald
Bethel Center for
Spirituality & Personal Growth
The Weald Bethel Center for
Spirituality and Personal Growth offers programs
that are inclusive and non-denominational; they
include traditional and non-traditional practices.
Presently, the center holds yoga classes, spiritual
study groups, memorial services and monthly church
services of the Cherryfield Congregational Church.
Weald Bethel, which is often called, "the
little chapel in the woods," is located on
the Downeast Center's 60 acres in Cherryfield.
Weald Bethel means "a forest sanctified by
the presence of God." There is a large plate
glass window at the front of the chapel that frames
a view of the tall trees and sky, and forms a
backdrop for the alter. At the rear of the building,
there is a stained glass window of the Holy Family.
