The Maine Sea Coast Mission has had a relationship with the Swan’s Island Baptist Church since July 19, 1941. Rev. Ken Dutille serves as Pastor assisted by his wife, Pat, in the many church functions that occur throughout the year.

According to The History of the Swan’s Island Baptist Church by Hazel Staples, “much of the church was built in the old tradition of Baked Bean suppers, sticky buns, fairs, and quilting bees.” The church of today still holds community dinners, which are organized by Pat Dutille, and provide funds to support the projects of the church.

Each year, the Swan’s Island Baptist Church hosts the Christmas Eve Service, Easter Breakfast, July 4th Hymn Sing, Memorial Day Service, and Good Friday Service. Also, each year, the Sunbeam is used to transport people from Great Cranberry Island to Swan’s Island for an interfaith, inter-island church service and community dinner.
