"Truly
a worthwhile Mission…"
It’s time I got with it and sent you a letter.
The Maine Sea Coast Mission has been very active
for years and years. The Sunbeam and
crew are extremely worthwhile. When I was teaching
in Jonesboro (early 50s) the children were looking
forward to Christmas. Every child got a pair of
mittens, ribbon candy and popcorn. Some of those
children would have had nothing. In the spring,
a representative from the Maine Sea Coast Mission
would arrive with a basket of seeds. The teacher
arranged for the kids to plant those seeds and
a cucumber, squash, or something would materialize.
It was great! One child in my room had a heart
condition. The Maine Sea Coast Mission made it
possible for the child to go to Boston for medical
attention. Now the people in the area take clothes
(too good to toss) to Cherryfield so the families
have access to whatever they need. It is truly
a worthwhile Mission.
"Over
and above…"
Thank you for helping me this year in regards
to my Maine Sea Coast Mission scholarship. When
I called your office I did not expect the Mission
to be so helpful. The Mission went over and above
for me and I really appreciate it. I will not
let the Maine Sea Coast Mission down.
"Champions
of possibilities…"
When I was a little girl I wanted to be an Artist,
an Astronaut, or an Archaeologist. I made my way
through high school, narrowing my sights on “Artist,"
and the Maine Sea Coast Mission took my hand and
helped me into college with a scholarship to help
my dreams come true. I must’ve scrolled
my way through the alphabetical order of potential
dreams while I was at Mount Holyoke, because I
remember having a lot of enthusiasm about Biology,
Chemistry, Geology, History, and Italian…and
by the time I graduated I must’ve made it
to the letter “T," because I was burning
to teach, and my third year out of school I found
myself employed by the Maine Sea Coast Mission
as a teacher. Once again I was supported in my
dreams by an organization designed to give even
more young people in my hometown the support to
follow their dreams! Still in “T”
mode, I was ready to bring my special gifts to
the field of Art Therapy by attending Naropa University
in Boulder, Colorado for a Master’s program
in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology. The Maine
Sea Coast Mission made this possible by funding
one of my prerequisite classes for this program,
at a time when I was recovering financially from
personal illness and recovering myself from depression.
Thank you for being champions of the possibilities
in my life, and in so many lives!
