Downeast Campus Staff  
   
Charlie Harrington is director of the EdGE, the Mission’s after-school and summer program for children in grades four through high school in six communities in Washington County. For over 20 years, Charlie has worked in education and youth development creating adventure based programs. He was a national trainer for Project Adventure for 20 years and is currently on the board of High Five Adventure Learning Center. Charlie has three children and three grandchildren and is a Registered Maine Guide in sea kayaking.  
   
Wendy Harrington is the Director of Service Programs. Wendy previously served as Adult and Community Coordinator for the EdGE program and continues to work part-time with the program. Ms. Harrington received a B.S. in Education from Framingham State College. She is a board member of the Washington County One Community and was the recipient of the Maine Children’s Alliance Giraffe Award for meaningful work with children.  
   
Allison Ouellet is the Lead Site Coordinator for the EdGE. She is a native of Addison, ME and received her B.A. from the University of Maine and her M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Denver. She enjoys knitting.  
   
Jordan Clark is the EdGE Site coordinator for Milbridge. He is a graduate of Husson College where he majored in Business Education. A native of Addison, ME, Jordan enjoys coaching soccer and spending time with his family.  
   

Maria Hall is the EdGE Administrative Assistant. Prior to joining the Mission team, Maria worked at the Union Trust Company in Cherryfield for seven years. She has one child and enjoys cooking, scrapbooking, and going to camp with her family.

 
   
Susie James is the EdGE Site Coordinator for Addison and Cherryfield. A graduate of South Portland High school, she is completing her course work towards her degree in education. Susie enjoys spending time with her family.  
   
Isaac Marnik is the responsible for the 7th and 8th grade and high school EdGE programs. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson College with a degree in Environmental education and Outdoor Leadership. An Americorps member, Isaac enjoys outdoor activities.  
   
Les Stanwood, EdGE Volunteer Coordinator, was born in Milbridge Maine. He graduated from Crosby High School in Belfast, Maine. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1980. Since then, he has worked as a Merchant Seaman and at the Medical Department at Bath Iron Works. He graduated from the University of Maine at Machias in 1989 with an A.S. in Recreation Management. His hobbies are traveling, socializing, and outdoor pursuits.  
   
Melissa Tenney is an EdGE Site Coordinator for Columbia Falls. She received a B.A. in history from the University of Maine at Machias and a M.A. in Education at the University of Maine at Orono. She is currently working towards a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Leadership and plans to transfer those credits into a doctoral program. Melissa also teaches math and science at the Columbia Falls Elementary School. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, writing, learning, and hiking.  
   
Laurie Merchant is the Assistant Manager of the Mission’s Thrift Shop. She moved to Maine in 1990 and started working for the Mission as the Assistant Manager of the Thrift Shop in 1996. She also does seasonal work picking crabs and making Christmas wreaths. Laurie enjoys camping and outdoor activities with her two sons.  
   
Marilyn Nickson is the Manager of the Mission’s Thrift Shop in Cherryfield. She moved to Maine in 1970 and began working for the Mission at the Thrift Shop in 1982. She later helped establish the Mission’s Food Pantry and served as its first Manager. She has been the Manager of the Thrift Shop since 2003. She loves helping with the Mission’s Christmas Program and the Haunted Trails project at Halloween.  
   
Gena Norgaard is the Manager of the food pantry at the Mission’s Downeast Campus in Cherryfield where she plants, cultivates, and harvests vegetables for the food pantry clients. She also coordinates the senior companion program which serves elderly clients in Washington County. Gena has a nursing background and served in several hospitals, including the Downeast Community Hospital in Machias. She enjoys bird watching, hiking, canoeing, swimming, and singing.  
   
Scott Shaw is the Caretaker for the mission’s Downeast Campus in Cherryfield, ME. He also serves as the project coordinator for the Housing Repair program. He attended Lyndon State College and the Rhode Island School of Electronics and moved to Maine in 2000. Scott enjoys playing music, outdoor activities, and spending time with his family.
