Minister to Outer Islands Rob Benson serves the congregations and all of the residents of the following five islands: Matinicus, Monhegan, Isle au Haut, Frenchboro and Great Cranberry.

The power of the Sunbeam is sometimes subtle, yet profound—to gather island residents together in an atmosphere of unconditional love and hospitality. Rob Benson, as the Sunbeam Minister, seeks to nurture island communities, one soul at a time. Rob also spends time reaching out to the marginalized members of the island communities—those suffering from illness, those being shunned for a community transgression, and those (like sternmen) who inhabit shaky rungs on the island community ladder. Rob and the Sunbeam receive calls throughout the year to help with funerals and other family tragedies. Each story is compelling.

For the past 99 years, the Maine Sea Coast Mission has built the reputation as the ones to call and the ones who will respond. In that time-honored tradition, Rob offers our prayers, work, and presence wherever and wherever called.
