Christmas
Program The Mission’s
Christmas Program is a very popular program that
celebrates the true spirit of giving. Each year,
the program provides an opportunity for hundreds
of people up and down the Maine coast make Christmas
a special time for themselves as well as for the
children, families and adults receiving Christmas
gifts through the Maine Sea Coast Mission.
New items are donated throughout
the year to be distributed to over 3,200 children,
families, nursing home residents, and prisoners
at Christmas meeting needs that might otherwise
go unmet and bringing a little joy and hope as
well. For children, this might be toys or warm
clothes. For adults, it might be warm clothes,
a jacket or work gloves, and books, calendars,
and personal care items. Each present is carefully
wrapped for a particular person who has been identified
with a particular interest and/or need.
The presents provided through
the Mission’s Christmas Program are all
new so they are even more special. No one has
ever worn the clothes or played with the toy before.
Many people who are now adults and supporters
of the Mission have written to tell us how important
the presents they received from the Mission were.
They restored hope that may have been lost and
showed that people did, indeed, care about them.
The thank you letters and cards that are received
each year echo this sentiment.
The Christmas Program could
not operate without the careful organization of
Program Director Julie Patton and the countless
hours of sorting, wrapping, and distributing by
many wonderful volunteers. To find out how you
can help the Christmas Program, email Julie
Patton at jpatton@seacoastmission.org
